Behavioral Psychology Services:
These services aim to eliminate or reduce complex and/or severe problem behavior demonstrated by children, adolescents, and adults who are diagnosed with or suspected of having developmental delays and behavioral disorders. These services are accomplished through family and/or individual therapy sessions, which aim to determine the core issues surrounding presenting problem behavior and to establish and implement an individualized plan of treatment to address these issues. Together, we can develop a realistic and consistent effort to work towards positive behavior change. These services focus on helping individuals who are 4 years of age and older. Problem behavior that is commonly targeted include, but is not limited to, the following:
– Tantrums/Meltdowns
– Physical Aggression
– Toileting Problems
– Disruptive and Destructive Behaviors
– Phobias
– Self-Injury
– Noncompliance/Defiance
– Dangerous Behavior (e.g., Elopement, Pica, etc.)
– Sleep Problems
– Anxiety/Avoidance
– Habits/Perseveration
Assessment & Initial Evaluation:
During the initial evaluation and assessment process, we will work together to identify the core issues that may be associated with the individual’s behavioral presentation and begin to discuss how to pursue positive behavior change. Once, we understand more about why problem behavior presented, we can then work together to identify what services and supports may help reduce and/or eliminate them.
Family Therapy:
A cohesive and collective family support system can have a significant impact on behavior change for individuals who are affected by disabilities and problem behavior. Through family therapy sessions, we can develop a consistent and collaborative effort towards achieving the goals that would produce the most meaningful impact for your family and the individual presenting problem behavior.
Individual Therapy:
This collaborative effort will be defined through the individual’s goals, values, and expectations, which will be manifested through creation of an individualized plan of care. Through individual therapy sessions, we will work towards completion of tangible and reasonable objectives that will target immediate and long-term behavior change.
