About Me

I’m Dr. Matt LeGray, a licensed psychologist in South Carolina and a doctoral-level board certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D). Beyond my professional role, I’m a father, son, brother, and uncle who loves spending time outdoors, football, playing ice hockey, and being active with my two boys.

My journey in behavioral psychology began at Western Michigan University, where I first encountered the core principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). Through practicum and research opportunities, I saw firsthand how ABA could create meaningful, positive behavior change, especially working with nonverbal individuals with Autism using discrete trial training. That experience convinced me that this work was my calling. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice.

Driven to deepen my understanding of behavior change, I earned my doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi’s School Psychology program. There, I gained extensive training across school, clinic, and home settings, working closely under the supervision of licensed psychologists and behavior analysts. The collaborative environment at USM was invaluable, as I learned alongside professors and peers.

A pivotal part of my training was completing my pre-doctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. I completed two six-month rotations, one with the Pediatric Developmental Disabilities clinic and one with the Neurobehavioral Inpatient Unit. This intensive year expanded my skills in clinical assessment and treatment in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I was fortunate to continue my training with a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at KKI’s Pediatric Developmental Disabilities clinic.

Throughout my education and training at WMU, USM, and KKI, I’ve collaborated with some amazing psychologists, behavior analysts, and other professionals. These experiences have allowed me to work with hundreds of families and individuals impacted by disabilities. I approach my work as a scientist-practitioner, prioritizing multidisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based practices, and data-driven decision making to create lasting behavior change.

My career is dedicated to advancing behavioral psychology and applied behavior analysis (ABA) while paying forward the opportunities and mentorship that shaped my growth as a clinician and scientist.
