Matt LeGray, Ph.D., LP, BCBA-D
Dr. Matt LeGray is a licensed psychologist in the state of South Carolina and is also a doctoral level board certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D). He is a father, son, brother, and uncle, who enjoys spending time with his two boys, being outdoors, playing ice hockey, and other sports.
Dr. Matt began his experience working with individuals affected by disabilities during his time at Western Michigan University (WMU). He had the benefit of learning the core principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and took advantage of several practicum and research opportunities to see these practices at work during this time at WMU. Following his experience utilizing discrete trial training as a treatment component for nonverbal individuals with Autism, Dr. Matt was convinced that creating positive behavior change was what he was supposed to do in life. He graduated from WMU, majoring in psychology and criminal justice.
Eager to learn more about utilizing the psychological science of ABA to change human behavior, he pursued a doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). During the immersive course sequence and practical training opportunities provided through USM’s School Psychology program, Dr. Matt gained extensive knowledge and training within the school, clinic, and home settings, as he gained experience under the direct supervision of licensed psychologists and behavior analysts. His time spent with USM was fantastic, as he was provided with an endless learning opportunity that included collaboration with professors and other graduate students. As a component of his doctoral training, Dr. Matt took part in the pre-doctoral internship program provided through the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine located in Baltimore, Maryland.
During his time in Baltimore, Dr. Matt completed two six-month rotations: one rotation with the Pediatric Developmental Disabilities clinic (PDD) and one with the Neurobehavioral-Inpatient Unit (NBU-IP). During this intensive year of training and supervised practice, Dr. Matt further developed his understanding of clinical practice and the execution of assessment and treatment efforts within the outpatient and inpatient settings. Having had such a wonderful training experience, Dr. Matt decided to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship with KKI at the PDD clinic, which he completed during an additional two years in Maryland.
During his time spent with WMU, USM, and KKI, Dr. Matt had the pleasure of collaborating with some of the country’s best psychologists, behavior analysts, and other professionals. These experiences have provided him the opportunity to work with hundreds of families and individuals affected by disabilities. These experiences have shaped his development as a scientist-practitioner, who always considers the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration, evidence-based practices, and data-based decision making when serving to effect lasting behavior change. His career is dedicated to promoting the science of behavioral psychology and applied behavior analysis (ABA) and to pay forward the wonderful opportunities, experiences, and knowledge passed to him by those who shaped his understanding of the science and his growth as a psychologist.
